About

Meet Caine, the young boy who inspired a global movement of creativity and the Cardboard Arcade section of the Lindley Carnival!

Story from Caine's Arcade
In 2011, 9-year-old Caine Monroy spent his summer vacation building an elaborate cardboard arcade inside his dad’s used auto parts store. The entire summer went by and he never had a single customer. Caine didn’t give up. On the last day of summer, filmmaker Nirvan Mullick walked in by chance to buy an auto part for his car. Caine asked Nirvan to play his games and things were never quite the same again!  Watch the two videos below to see the full story.
The videos went viral in 2012 and inspired schools across the US and around the globe to create their own cardboard arcades.  At the 2019 Lindley Carnival, there will be a dedicated section where students will be invited to bring their own cardboard creations to share with friends and classmates!  All carnival attendees will be able to play the cardboard games for free.
Mrs. Woody, a teacher at Lindley, is currently creating a group of arcade games with a group of students.  Lindley families are also encouraged to build cardboard arcade games outside of school and bring them to the carnival on May 3rd!
